On the 12th July 2010 the Kingsbury high School Sports Partnership held an Identifying ability day for young disabled individuals who have demonstrated a high level of ability in fundamental skills across our School Sport Partnership.
Identifying Ability Days are designed to bring together young disabled individuals, gaining the opportunity to experience a range of high quality coaching environments through which to assess their sporting potential.
The Playground to Podium framework focuses on the identification, development and support of young disabled athletes and players and has been developed by the Youth Sport Trust, Sport England, UK Sport and Paralympics GB. The framework forms a pathway which takes young disabled people from PE, through participation and into high level performance and competition.
The ultimate aim of this pathway is to produce our next Paralympians and elite disabled athletes, as well as ensuring that those young people with a higher level of ability are identified and are able to access a talent pathway. The interventions within the framework collectively aim to support the achievement of a 5 hour offer for all young disabled people.
Attached are some of the photos taken on the day. Could these faces be future paralympic champions of the world?
We'll have to wait and see!
